Barcode reader
Use Barcode reader to read a supported code from an image. Compare the decoded value with your label, preserve leading zeros, and check image quality limits.
Barcode reader
Barcode reader extracts a supported barcode value from an image and shows the decoded text. Use it when you have a photograph or screenshot of a label and need its encoded value for comparison. The result is a code reading, not a product-database lookup or confirmation that a label is authentic.
How to use Barcode reader
- Choose an image with the complete code, readable bars or modules, and sufficient surrounding space.
- Select the image in the file field and wait for the reading result.
- Compare the decoded value character by character with the label or trusted source record.
A practical example
For an inventory check, read a clear photograph of a package label and compare the result with the stored item code. Keep any leading zeros when transferring the value into a spreadsheet. Treat a mismatch as a reason to inspect the image and record, not to overwrite the existing information automatically.
Limitations
The reader supports a configured set of formats, including several EAN, UPC, Code, and matrix families. This does not mean every barcode type is recognized. Cropping, perspective, reflections, and insufficient detail can prevent a read. The dedicated QR reader handles QR codes separately from this configuration.
Common questions
Will it identify the product name?
The form returns decoded text. A product name requires a separate trusted catalog that matches the returned value.
Can I read a blurry label?
Recognition depends on image detail. Try a sharper, straighter photograph rather than guessing the missing digits or assuming a partial reading is complete.
