SQL formatter/beautifier
SQL formatter/beautifier reformats queries for easier reading. Review indentation and clauses without executing SQL, then validate the query in its environment.
SQL formatter/beautifier helps you reformat SQL for easier reading, reviewing clauses and indentation before moving a query into its own database workflow. Start with a representative sample of your actual task. Read the form labels and the returned value before replacing text, a link, or a code fragment that is already in use.
How to use SQL formatter/beautifier
- Paste the SQL text.
- Select Submit.
- Review the formatted display and copy only the query text you intend to use.
Worked example
SELECT name FROM contacts WHERE active = 1; illustrates a statement whose clauses can be easier to scan after formatting. The example is not executed by this formatter.
Limits and checks
Formatting does not validate a query against a database, select a SQL dialect, improve indexes, or make a statement safe to run. Review quoted identifiers, comments, and dialect-specific syntax separately in the proper development environment.
Frequently asked questions
Does the appearance prove the result is correct?
No. Compact or readable output does not check every rule of its destination. Compare syntax, values, and behavior in an appropriate environment before using the result in production.
Does the formatted display validate the query against my database?
No. The handler formats the supplied SQL without executing it against your database. Table names, permissions, dialect rules, and query behavior still need checking in the appropriate development workflow.
